Mostly A roads down the Fosseway which isn’t really any place for a cyclist. From Stratford to Cirencester was all on the A429 which is big and unpleasant. There was a highlight here – there was a huge traffic jam coming into Stow, and I just cycled past the edge of it.
After Cirencester the road was much nicer, but coming through the Cotswold Water Park we came upon some road resurfacing. The whole road was shut for several miles but we cycled through as a workman said it would be Okay. He was wrong. Cambo got his hooves very hot and I had to carry him for a bit past the tarmacing machines.
Coming into Wootton Bassett I discovered “Britains most badly maintained road”. This continued all the way to Calne, except for a short section through Lyneham – where the air base is. I wondered if this was related.
Tonight’s campsite is behind a pub. Nice food and Nice beer. Didn’t take any photos today, strangely.
